Zoro was the last born and the smallest in the litter, but he quickly proved to be the dark horse, growing into a truly stunning young dog.
 

Zoro was a little emotionally behind the rest of the puppies. We felt he wasn’t quite ready to leave for a new home at the same time as his littermates, so we made the decision to hold him back.

At eight weeks of age, he was placed with a close friend who is also a professional trainer. This gave him the opportunity to go everywhere with her and benefit from dedicated one-on-one attention, helping him build the confidence and resilience he needed. He remained with her until he was five months old before taking the next step.
 

Zoro has since moved across the ditch to New Zealand, where he now lives with breeders of Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Siberian Huskies. He has certainly kept them on their toes, introducing them to the joys of primitive breeds with his cheeky and assertive personality.

Zoro is now a New Zealand Champion, and we are very much looking forward to watching him continue to mature.
 

Screening and breeding information

There are no immediate plans to breed Zoro at this time, given there are currently only 2 standard Xolos in NZ. Health and breeding screening will be undertaken at a later stage if and when it becomes relevant.
