We first came across Belmont on Facebook when he was just 4½ months old, and it was instant love. Not long after, we began the process of importing him to Australia - a lengthy, complex, and costly journey. Seven months and approximately $24,000 later, Belmont arrived in Australia and completed his mandatory 10-day stay at the Melbourne Quarantine Station before finally coming home.

From the moment he joined us, Belmont fitted seamlessly into our pack, as though he had always been here. Those first twelve months were a period of deep learning and understanding; while you can read extensively about primitive breeds and Xolos, nothing compares to living alongside one and truly appreciating their unique traits, instincts, and communication. We learned together, adapted, and refined our approach - and that foundation set Belmont up for everything that followed.

In just a few short years, Belmont went on to become the most titled and most versatile Xolo in Australian history.

Today, Belmont is officially retired from the conformation ring, having achieved everything there was to achieve. He was never particularly fond of the show ring, and once his goals were met, there was no reason to continue simply for the sake of more ribbons.

Belmont has earned 27 titles spanning conformation, performance sports, and temperament. His favourite pursuits are Scent Work and SprintDog, and we look forward to enjoying much more of both with him in 2026.

Belmont is wonderfully cheeky and endlessly silly, with a trademark submissive smile that usually means he’s up to something. He’s a master manipulator with a pushy streak- give him an inch, and he’ll happily take a mile. Despite this, he has an incredibly kind and gentle soul. He was absolutely beautiful with his 2024 litter, interacting with them in the sweetest, careful, and endearing way.

Belmont gives the best cuddles and will completely melt into you, but he’s also comfortable with his own space and doesn’t need constant physical attention.

For a Xolo, he is quite social with strangers - though he can be aloof if he doesn’t see the value in the interaction. Try too hard to be his friend, and he’ll simply ignore you.

Pre-breeding screening

Belmont has undergone comprehensive health testing, including:

  • Hip and elbow scoring

  • Eye examination and certification

  • Cardiac examination and certification

  • Thyroid testing (clear)

  • Embark Vet DNA genetic disease screening (clear for all tested conditions)

  • Annual full blood panels (clear)

  • Professional temperament assessment

  • Awarded the Canine Good Citizen title

Breeding

Belmont has sired one litter of nine puppies via frozen semen:

  • 5 males and 4 females

  • 3 coated puppies

As of the end of 2025:

Belmont’s semen is stored in Australia for future use. He is not available for live matings as he is now desexed, so he can focus better on sports.
